The $ix Rack (SEASON 2!) Presented by Trav: Week 11

Brrrrrr. After a 2-4 week, we are officially ice cold.

To warm up, let’s get into some hot takes.

A $ix Rack of college football hot takes:

  1. Dan Mullen is getting fired.
  2. I haven’t watched much of Oklahoma State but I’m starting to wonder if their defense is good enough to beat Oklahoma and win the Big 12.
  3. Jahan Dotson is gonna make an NFL team really happy next year.
  4. MACtion is still God’s gift to earth.
  5. Besides one super bowl appearance as a coach (which he of course lost) and one Pro Bowl selection as a player, Jim Harbaugh is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
  6. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable listening to a broadcast in my life than I did Saturday listening to Beth Mowins and Kirk Morrison. (Start listening at 2:27:35.)

A $ix Rack of NFL hot takes:

  1. Cassius Marsh is clearly a tool and deserved what he got.
  2. Mac Jones should be suspended.
  3. Matt Stafford is overrated.
  4. OBJ should be mandated to spend 365 days with the Lions.
  5. Jordan Love’s mom deserved better seats.
  6. I love how Colt McCoy outlasted Sam Bradford by 3 years and Tim Tebow by 6 years (not including whatever this year’s training camp tryout was).

Now for last week’s action…

WEEK 10 RE$ULTS

1. Michigan State -2.5 (vs. Purdue)

LOSER

How many times do we have to learn the hard way? Don’t bet against Purdue.

2. Kentucky PICK ‘EM (vs. Tennessee)

LOSER

This was the game of the year candidate until the boring ending. There were times I felt like I was watching a 2000s Big 12 game of sorts: 2-minute scoring drives and absolutely no defense.

3. Baylor -6.5 (vs. TCU)

LOSER

Speaking of Big 12 games, this shit makes no sense.

4. Air Force vs. Army UNDER 37 points

🚨WINNER🚨

Wow, did I sweat this one out with the 35 second half/OT points. But the military game under cashes yet again.

5. Georgia vs. Missouri UNDER 59.5

🚨WINNER🚨

$ix Rack Week 10: “Missouri will score like 10 and I don’t think Georgia scores 50.” We’re drowning but at least our head is still above water. Also, #MockFlock.

6. Raiders -2.5 (vs. Giants)

LOSER

A quick Derek Carr update:

Week 10 1:1 Parlay (+125)

  • Ohio State -700 (vs Nebraska) ✅
  • Louisiana -550 (vs GA State) ✅
  • Dolphins -250 (vs Texans) ✅
  • Colts -500 (vs Jets) ✅

🚨WINNER🚨

TOO EA$Y. AND TWO WEEKS IN A ROW.

Week 10 Long Shot Moneylines

MTSU (vs. Western Kentucky) +550

LOSER

Rutgers (vs. Wisconsin) +470

LOSER

UTEP (vs. UTSA) +375

LOSER

Moving on.

WEEK 11 WINNER$:

1. Penn State PICK EM (vs. Michigan)

No data to back this up other than I think Penn State finds a way to win this game.

Screen Shot 2021-11-11 at 11.51.58 PM

2. Oklahoma vs Baylor over 62.5

The teams have combined to hit 12 of 18 overs this year (both teams are 6-3). Over their past four games against Big 12 opponents, the Sooners are averaging 48.5 points while the Bears are averaging 35.5 points.

3. Oklahoma over 34.5 team total points (vs. Baylor)

Let’s double down on this one and put more chips in on Caleb Williams and the Sooners putting up some serious points.

4. Green Bay -3 (vs. Seattle)

Green Bay has covered 8 games in a row. I think we get some extra points here because of some hesitancy around Rodgers, but I see no reason he won’t be cleared on Saturday. And let’s hope Russ looks more rusty than Rodgers.

5. Detroit +9.5 (vs Pittsburgh)

The Steelers are 0-4 ATS this year as favorites and have failed to cover their last seven games as favorites overall.

6. Ole Miss +2.5 (vs. Texas A&M) [College Gameday Pick]

The College Gameday pick is back. Ole Miss is 5-0 in Oxford this year. The wrong team is favored here.

(Side note: Was I the only one who didn’t know the Ole Miss mascot was a shark?)

Week 11 So Stupid It Doesn’t Make Any Sense Longshot Moneylines:

FIU +320 (vs. MTSU)

Texas Tech +320 (vs. Iowa State)

Maryland +425 (vs. Michigan State)

I believe I have finally cracked the formula for the longshot moneylines and I am excited to put it in action this weekend. I will be picking the upsets that seem to make the least amount of sense of happening. These are of course within reason. We’ll kick it off this week with a 1-win FIU upsetting my Blue Raiders, the Red Raiders with an interim coach upsetting Iowa State, and the Terps upsetting a top-10 ranked Michigan State on the road.

Week 10 1:1 Parlay (+125)

  • Oregon -625 (vs. Washington State)
  • UCLA -835 (vs. Colorado)
  • Tampa Bay -455 (vs. Washington)
  • Indianapolis -455 (vs. Jacksonville)

Best I’ve felt about one of these in weeks.

Enjoy Week 11!
