Yeah, let’s skip the foreplay and just get to the action here.

WEEK 9 RECAP

1. Oregon State vs. Washington State UNDER 65.5 ❌LOSER❌

Final Score: Oregon State 28 – Washington State 38

Yep, do the math. This was devastating. Did anyone else watch this game? It was 7-0 after the 1st quarter and 14-7 at halftime. The best part is I thought the over/under was 55.5 for a majority of the game, and when I saw I had under 65.5, I couldn’t believe it. I basically already pencilled it in as a lock. But after 10 quick points to kick off the fourth quarter, I started crunching numbers in my head. With 3 minutes left, there was only one possible way for them to score 15 points in the last three minutes and that seemed like quite the stretch:

It happened. For what it’s worth, I totaled up ½ point wins and losses this year. Losses: 3. Wins: 0.

*Editor’s Note: Yeah baby, burn em 🔥*

2. Liberty +14.5 (vs. Virginia Tech) 💰WINNER💰

Final Score: Liberty 38 – Virginia Tech 35

Shouldn’t have chickened (hey oh) out on the LSML for this one. Never underestimate Coach Freeze’s frail legs for a lack of testicular fortitude.

3. Nebraska (+3.5 vs Northwestern) ❌LOSER❌

Final Score: Nebraska 13 – Northwestern 21

Never take Nebraska against the spread. Never. Ever. Don’t do it.

*Editor’s Note: Take a peak at it this week.*

4. Raiders +1.5 (vs. Chargers) 💰WINNER💰

Final Score: Raiders 31 – Chargers 26

The Raiders make me look smart two weeks in a row.

5. Cardinals -4 (vs. Dolphins) ❌LOSER❌

Final Score: Cardinals 31 – Dolphins 34

I think I’ve said this once or twice before but the Dolphins are legit. And also currently +100 to make the playoffs.

6. Guest Pick: Patriots -7 (vs. Jets) ❌LOSER❌

Final Score: Patriots 30 – Jets 27

Anyone know the odds of missing a 50% chance bet 6 times in a row? That would be 1/64 chance or 1.6%.

LSMLW: Baylor +470 (vs. Iowa State) ❌LOSER❌

Final Score: Baylor 31 – Iowa State 38

Baylor couldn’t make a 14-0 start and a 21-7 lead pay off. Charlie Brewer did look like his old self but a 21-point third quarter for the Cyclones was too much for us to nail this one.

What was I right about:

  • Nick Rolovich looks like me
  • Liberty’s Super Bowl
  • Hugh Freeze’s legs
  • Da Raaaaaiiiddddas (Chris Berman voice)

What was I wrong about:

  • Pac 12 rookie quarterbacks not scoring points
  • Nebraska ever covering a spread
  • Cardinals coming off a bye
  • Patriots (We can enjoy this one.)

WEEK 10 WINNERS

Spent some extra time in the lab this week after last week’s first losing record since Week 5. This week’s winners are:

1. GA Southern -10.5 (vs. Texas State)

I don’t know a single player on either of these two teams. And I could look something up really quick about a few players on one of the teams and pretend like I know something about them but I won’t. Instead let’s just focus on common opponents here between the two teams in the past month: South Alabama and Troy.

Georgia Southern vs these opponents: 2-0
11/7 Georgia Southern 20 vs Troy 13 (+7)
10/29 Georgia Southern 24 South Alabama 17 (+7)

Texas State vs these opponents: 0-2
10/10 Texas State 10 vs Troy 37 (-27)
10/17 South Alabama 20 vs South Alabama 30 (-10)

Crunching the point differentials here tells us this is a 2-3 score differential between the two teams. Let’s not make this harder than it has to be.

(Note: Most importantly, can someone teach me how to remember the difference between Georgia Southern and Georgia State because I struggle with this weekly. I had to correct myself from writing “State” instead of “Southern” so many times during this section that I almost changed my pick because I could not remember which one I was writing about.)

2. Washington State (+10.5 vs. Oregon)

I love to fade Chris Fallica but this stat is so unbelievable that I couldn’t pass it up.

Yeah, 10 straight is something I’ll take my chances with. And any team my twin Nick Rolovich coaches is becoming my new favorite team to bet on.

3. Georgia State +16 (vs. App State)

Yes eff it, I just decided right now we’re doing this. I don’t know what happened against Coastal Carolina but from what I can see, Georgia State has battled with everyone else. Speaking of the Chanticleers, they have to be looming on the mind of the Mountaineers given next week’s matchup and I think this has “trap game” written all over it. App State wins but not by more than 2 TDs.

4. Saints -9.5 (vs. 49ers)

All aboard the Saints train where the cars smell like sewage and the conductor smells of stale Miller High Life. CHOO! CHOO! The Saints run D is nasty and they are currently #1 in the league in total rushing yards allowed. If you’ve watched Jimmy G throw at all this year, you know this spells big problems for the 49ers.

5. Seahawks vs. Rams OVER 55.5

Yes, I’m 3-6 on over/unders this year but this one is too good to pass up. The Rams have scored at least 28 points in their last 5 games against the Seahawks. Yet, if you somehow haven’t heard yet, the Seahawks D is somehow even worse than ever (worse than anyone ever as a matter of fact). There is only one explanation for how this team continues to win games and that’s the Seahawks O. They have scored at least 23 points in every game this year and have hit 7 out of their last 9 overs. This has both teams in the 30’s written all over it.

6. Guest Pick: Ravens -7 (vs Patriots)

6 straight losses. 6 straight. I officially don’t trust friends or family at this point. So we’re going back with what we know works and the guest pick is officially (Week 2 picker) my friend Matt Man’s for the foreseeable future.

This week Matt Man likes the Ravens -7 against the Patriots. Per Matt Man, the Ravens have covered every game they have won this year and 14 of their last 16 wins have been by 7+. Meanwhile the Patriots are 2-5 ATS in last 7 games. And most importantly, the Ravens offense/defense ”much much better” than the Patriots offense/defense.

Long Shot Moneyline of the Week:

Washington State +300 (vs. Oregon)

This was going to be the Bengals until they dipped below +300. Let’s roll with Washington State instead. At this point, we’re just pulling names out of a hat anyways.

1:1

At least something went right last week. Let’s keep the 1:1’s rolling this week with:

Cincy (vs ECU)
Kentucky (vs Vanderbilt)
Marshall (vs Tenn State)
UL Lafayette (vs South Alabama)
Notre Dame (vs Boston College)
Nevada (vs New Mexico)
Packers (vs Jaguars)

This gives us +112 odds.

Bonus Masters Pick:

John Rahm

+1000 (entering Thursday)
+1400 (entering Friday)

Hole in one Monday. The craziest shot I’ve ever seen in my life on Tuesday which so happened to be his 26th birthday. John Rahm don’t want no cake on his birthday, he wants his cake errrday. Only way he doesn’t win this thing is if he’s too hungover to get out of bed.

There ya have it perverts. Enjoy week 10. Catch you on the flip side of a perfect week. Don’t fade me ‘cause you ain’t me.
